At Dead of Night sequel The Great Hugo announced for release “very soon”

Baggy Cat Games says its horror sequel At Dead Of Night 2: The Great Hugo will arrive “very soon.”
Baggy Cat Games, the developers behind the viral FMV horror title At Dead Of Night, have confirmed that a sequel is “coming (very) soon.”
The follow‑up, titled At Dead Of Night 2: The Great Hugo, picks up where the original left off, reuniting players with protagonist Maya as she heads to investigate a large Tudor manor house.
The original game rose to fame during the pandemic, aided by streamers and content creators such as Markiplier, 8‑BitRyan, John Wolfe and DomPlays. They introduced audiences to Jimmy Hall, a creepy hotel landlord who sought an audience for his late‑night comedy show and his psychopathic comedy alter ego, Hugo Punch.
The new subtitle, The Great Hugo, signals a story set half a decade later. The official blurb reads: Five years later, Maya is still haunted by her experiences in Sea View Hotel. Desperate for answers she remembers the ghost box she used in the hotel, left there when she escaped.
According to the teaser, Maya scours auction sites and antique shops for a similar device, but cannot get it to work. She then contacts an old friend and counsellor, Quinn, who helped her understand the supernatural events at the hotel. Quinn identifies the device’s origin – an inventor who lived in a large Tudor manor not far from Sea View – and warns Maya against attempting to reactivate it. Maya, however, ignores the warning and proceeds on her own investigation.
The exact timing of the “very soon” release remains unclear, and Baggy Cat Games promises further updates.
In related horror‑gaming news, the developer of The Mortuary Assistant released Playable Archive this week as a free Halloween offering. The title, a nod to the legendary Playable Teaser for Hideo Kojima’s cancelled Silent Hill project, provides a brief glimpse of Brian Clarke’s larger, cancelled Paranormal Activity game.
Fans of indie horror can look forward to both the upcoming sequel and the seasonal freebie as the genre continues to thrive beyond the Halloween season.
