Democrat endorses Republican in tight Michigan Senate race

Congresswoman Haley Stevens publicly backs GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers after a clash with Democratic nominee Abdul El‑Sayed.
On Sunday, Democratic U.S. Representative Haley Stevens stood beside Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers during a church event in Michigan.
In a video posted to X, Stevens said, I don't belong in Abdul's campaign. Who we are as Michiganders is not hate and is not what we are getting out from our Democratic nominee right now. She added, "That's why I am endorsing Mike Rogers."
Stevens told reporters after the service that El‑Sayed had informed her she was no longer welcome in his campaign, saying, "Abdul made clear that I was not welcome in his campaign, that he didn't need me there, that he didn't want me there."
The two candidates had originally been scheduled to appear together at a different Sunday event, but El‑Sayed reportedly asked Stevens not to attend.
