Ivan Toney’s assault trial scheduled for June 2028

England striker Ivan Toney has entered a not‑guilty plea and will face trial in June 2028 over a nightclub incident.
England striker Ivan Toney appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday and formally entered a not‑guilty plea to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The alleged offence occurred on 6 December 2025 at a nightclub on Wardour Street, central London, where Toney is accused of head‑butting and punching Saber Da Silva after the two “squared up to each other”.
During the brief hearing, Judge Christopher Hehir set a provisional trial date for 12 June 2028 at the same court, noting the significant backlog facing crown courts.
Toney was released on unconditional bail after the hearing. He arrived in court wearing black sunglasses, grey trousers and a button‑up jacket over a shirt and tie.
The charge follows a Metropolitan Police investigation and was announced in late July. Toney, who represented England at the recent World Cup and has ten international caps with one goal, missed the latest Nations League squad.
He began his professional career with Northampton, later moving permanently to Newcastle and Peterborough before joining Brentford in 2020.
The legal process is now set in motion, and the football world will be watching the outcome.
