Jack Lowden Declines to Comment on Bond Speculation

The actor says he won’t add to the buzz surrounding his rumored screen tests for the next James Bond.
Jack Lowden is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding reports that he is among a small group of actors being evaluated for the next James Bond.
In a British GQ interview published on Monday, the Scottish performer acknowledged the rumors – which have appeared in The Hollywood Reporter – but said he will not “add to the noise.”
He called the attention “very flattering” and noted that it is “nice to be mentioned – for any role – and I’m just not really going to add to the noise.” He added that the comments from his co‑star were “particularly lovely, coming from someone like him,” but he does not “really listen to it.”
Earlier, a co‑star told The Morning Show that the role had been cast and expressed hope that Lowlow was chosen, though The Hollywood Reporter later learned from a source that the decision had not yet been made.
According to the GQ piece, the casting director who first hired Lowden for his breakout role in a spy series is also leading the search for Daniel Craig’s replacement.
Lowden’s spouse, Irish Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, has also stayed quiet, telling the Associated Press in October that the topic is not really a subject that’s coming up in our house. She said they are focused on everyday matters like walking the dog and making dinner.
Lowden’s interview was timed with the release of Netflix’s adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, in which he portrays Mr. Darcy. He explained that he does not expect to be the first choice for most roles, but enjoys the surprise when he is.
