Later hours unlikely to lift bottle sales at Hong Kong wine festival

Exhibitors say the extended closing time to 1 am won’t translate into higher wine bottle sales.
The annual Wine and Dine Festival reopened at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront on Thursday, featuring more than 340 booths and representation from over 30 countries and regions.
Organisers have lengthened the weekend schedule to run from 1 pm to 1 am on Friday and Saturday, extending the previous midday‑midnight window.
Later opening times are unlikely to boost wine sales by the bottle, say exhibitors who returned to the event, noting that the additional hour is not expected to lift bottle sales.
New overseas participants view Hong Kong as an indicator for broader trends in Asian markets, but the consensus among sellers remains skeptical about the impact of the extended hours.
The festival also aligns with the Halloween weekend this year, a change from the prior edition.
Extended hours may keep the crowd longer, but they are not expected to translate into higher bottle sales.
