Thousands Take to the Streets in Paris as Europe-Wide Protests Escalate

Hundreds of thousands marched across France with police clashes in Paris amid a third weekend of demonstrations.
Wow! A massive wave of protest swept France this weekend, marking the third consecutive round of nationwide demonstrations.
According to France’s interior ministry, over 320,000 people took to the streets across the country, and police say roughly 70,000 gathered in Paris alone.
In the French capital, police deployed tear gas and clashed with demonstrators, resulting in at least 290 arrests.
The authorities said they had prepared extensively to avoid a repeat of the violence, rioting and looting that occurred two weeks earlier.
Beyond France, youth‑led protests were reported in Albania, Germany and Italy, as BBC correspondent James Waterhouse noted.
The unrest comes as France readies for a general strike in the coming days, with demonstrators voicing anger over the rising cost of living and perceived shortcomings in public services.
These coordinated actions underscore a significant moment of public dissent across multiple European nations.
