Apple trims internal AI spending limits, Bloomberg reports

Apple is lowering daily AI budget caps for its engineering teams, with some limits dropping to as low as $100 a day.
Apple is reportedly tightening the amount its staff can spend on artificial intelligence tools each day, according to a Bloomberg report released on Wednesday.
Recent reductions
In October, the company lowered the daily AI spending ceiling for its engineering teams from $300 to $200.
Planned further cuts
Sources tell Bloomberg that the next round of reductions could bring the engineering cap down to $100 per day.
For employees outside the engineering group, Apple is said to be considering a daily limit as low as $25.
Industry context
Earlier this year, many firms encouraged staff to maximize AI usage in pursuit of vague efficiency gains, a trend that quickly faded as token‑related bills arrived and companies shifted toward more fiscally prudent token rationing.
Concerns remain about the gap between the cost of building and running AI systems and the often unclear productivity benefits they are expected to deliver.
