Bruce Springsteen Endorses Abdul El‑Sayed for Michigan Senate

The Boss posted his full‑throttle support for Democrat Abdul El‑Sayed ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Bruce Springsteen has thrown his weight behind Democrat Abdul El‑Sayed in the Michigan Senate race.
In a social‑media post on Monday, the rock legend wrote, “Dr. El‑Sayed is a fighter for our American Constitution, he’s a fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti‑American leadership currently in the White House.” He added, “That’s why I’m in his corner 100%.”
The post lands just before the 2026 midterm elections, a cycle that Democrats describe as a generational opportunity to pick up seats as Donald Trump’s war against Iran has driven up living costs and hurt his popularity.
Springsteen, a longtime Democrat and vocal critic of Trump, released the protest anthem “Streets of Minneapolis” earlier this year in response to ICE’s crackdown and the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. His Land of Hope and Dreams Tour began in Minneapolis on March 31, and he told Rolling Stone in September, “This was the show I wanted to make, the story I wanted to tell.”
In Michigan, El‑Sayed, an epidemiologist and local public‑health official, is contesting former Republican House Rep. Mike Rodgers. On Sunday, Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens shocked colleagues by endorsing Rodgers, a move she had previously criticized as a “rubber stamp” for the Trump administration.
El‑Sayed’s campaign dismissed Stevens’ endorsement, saying, “None of this matters,” and emphasized the concerns of families: “There are families who are preparing to send their kids to schools tomorrow that look like they did 50 years ago. They’re worried about what they’re going to feed their kids for lunch. They’re worried that if one of their kids gets sick, they’re not going to be able to pay the bills. Those are the things that matter.”
The Boss’s backing adds a high‑profile voice to El‑Sayed’s campaign as the race heads into the final stretch of the 2026 midterms.
