Debut Performance

Trey Kaufman-Renn made his long‑awaited debut for No. 17 Kansas on Monday, contributing nine points, five rebounds and a block in a 95‑65 victory over Fordham.

He did not start the first half, but entered the lineup at the start of the second half and logged 23 minutes for the Jayhawks.

Roster Implications

Kansas was already over the 15‑man roster limit after adding back Tre White and Melvin Council Jr., both seeking a fifth year of eligibility. The Jayhawks were able to add Kaufman‑Renn after freshman guard Grant Mordin suffered a season‑ending patellar tendon injury.

Draft Background

Complicating his case, Kaufman‑Renn was selected No. 59 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves this past summer. Seniors who have exhausted eligibility are automatically eligible for the NBA draft and do not need to “declare,” a point currently contested by several high‑major conferences.

Outlook

With Kaufman‑Renn, White and Council on the roster, Kansas possesses a lineup capable of contending for the top spot in the Big 12.
